Fantastic Week!

What a great week it has been! Just last week, I had problems with work & worrying if I can pass my IPPT (the thought of remedial training kills me~). Didn’t know my fitness deteriorated so much after NS. I could only do 4 pull ups, I was almost dying after doing 20 over sit ups, standing broad jumps is always inconsistent and my best run in the last few weeks for an estimated 2.4km run was 12:51. I needed to reach 12:40 to pass!

This week, my mistake in work was resolved & the other problems should be settled soon. I ordered my digital piano on Friday! Bought 2 shirts (last time I bought was like last June & the last last time was 2 years ago). Hardly pamper myself~ I also got to watch Jay Chou’s concert on Friday! Thanks to the free tickets my Uncle gave. The visuals in the beginning was phewwwwwwwwwwwww weeeeet. Really amazing. Don’t know how he did it, but he was seemingly in a sphere, flying in mid air and rotating. Then he played an electric guitar. Freaking awesome. Of course, I don’t think he was really inside, but it was very real. They call it 4D. I tried to find videos online to re-watch, but they don’t justify what I saw live. Really amazing stuff. But other than that, I was pretty disappointed. His vocals was good (sang extremely high for some songs) but I look for other things in a concert. I would rather stay at home and listen to his CDs if there isn’t gonna be anything different. And there really wasn’t much change of arrangement and stuff. He didn’t sing songs he wrote for others too (like the many he did in his previous concerts). In his last concert, he changed the arrangement of Shuang Jie Gun and that was pretty refreshing. He also had a piano duet with Yu Hao like in his movie, Secret. So overall:

And I passed my IPPT on Saturday! What a miracle~ My prayers have not been in vain!

After knowing that I passed my static stations, I just ran for my life in the 2.4km~ Just 3 more points, and I would have qualified for $100. But I’m just glad to pass now. No remedial trainings!!! Aiming silver next!

Emptiness

It’s hard for some people to understand how attached humans can be to dogs. Junior is part of our family member and it’s not an exaggeration at all. We all love him to bits. And it’s extremely painful for me because everything around me reminds me of him. He was no longer there when I woke up this morning. I looked to the mattress he loves to lean on and he wasn’t there. I went downstairs to buy lunch and every step walked, there were images of me walking with him. But he won’t be doing it anymore. I came back home and he wasn’t there to greet me anymore. There was also no glutton eyeing my food, no frightened furball cozying to me when there's thunder. I cried in every scenario because he was simply in every part of our lives. And he is not anymore.

Reviews of Idol 9 (So far~)

I had 3 favourites during the auditions. They are Andrew Garcia, Lee Dewyze & Bryan Walker (The policeman). During Hollywood week, Andrew impressed me once again with his rendition of Paula Abdul’s Straight Up. Lee didn’t really impress and there were no footages of Bryan at all. But I had another favourite: Crystal Bowersox. So among my 4 favourites, 3 made it to the top 24. But despite all its hype, Season 9 haven’t got me anticipating for more yet. The 1 thing I saw this season was that there seemed to be more contestants who are willing to rearrange the songs and I like that~

The girls’ top 24 performance was kinda boring for me. There weren’t any standouts at all and some were unbearable to listen. Crystal was doing ok. I was surprised Simon Cowell said it’s going to be the girls’ year. The guys did much better, in my opinion. Andrew was not at his best, but was ok. And Lee is back to being 1 of my favourites again after that performance. The song wasn’t great but there was potential. I like that kind of husky rock voice similar to Chris Daughtry, David Cook, Nickelback & Creed.

I think having 4 judges confuses the contestants. What is the contestant gonna do with 4 different opinions that contradicts? I liked Ellen Degeneres during Hollywood week. I thought she was funny. Critics also said that she did great during Hollywood week but remarked that those clips were not ‘live’, so naturally we saw the best of her. Anything boring she might have said was not shown. It came true! I thought she was like Paula Abdul! Can’t stand her. I know the top 24 beat thousands of people to be there, but you don’t have to say everybody’s great after their performance! She did say in her own show “The Ellen Degeneres Show” that a live performance is totally different from listening to it at home. She refused to say the girls were horrible, but just ‘totally different & she would watch from home now to judge’. Haha. I do enjoy the occasional humour from her, but she’s too much like Paula.

Sweet Memories

My short stint back in Army for my re-enlistment was rewarded with some unexpected sweet memories. I thought my life couldn’t be more worse when I first heard from my OC (Officer Commanding) that me & 2 other of my friends would be going to the Pioneer course as Assistant Instructors AKA 2nd in Command. Most people told me my 3 months back in Army would be full of sleeping or some guard/clerical duties. I expected worse but not to this extent of enduring the same shit I’ve experienced 3-4 years back.

There were definitely many tough moments during our course, but getting to know these men of mine certainly made the difference. I too, was and still am a man (ie. Not a commander). But my OC figured that we had the experience & could help out in the course since we were lacking in commanders too. And the experience of having your own men was different. With added responsibilities, I felt the extra need to help the, guide them, take care of them, etc. And they were very appreciative of little things I did too. On top of that, they were obedient, united, cute & funny too. I am also grateful to the Platoon Sergeant (PS), who took care of us and protected us from the kinds of stuff. I even like him more than my own NS PS. I think I’m starting to sound gay-ish already but here’s more. I bid them goodbye when I left & though most of these below are exaggerated, they still sound sweet nonetheless.

“Corporal, we gonna report sick tomorrow for insomnia.”

I will definitely miss these guys. I certainly hope that I have made an impact in their lives as they have made mine…

What Decides The American Idol? (My Views)

I am gutted that 1 of my favourites, Matt Giraud is out of the competition. I knew he is not going to win it, but I had expected him to go after Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen. I don’t find them as good. There are a few factors I think decides the American Idol and here are the following~

1. Singing Ability – Of course lah right~. I think this is a strong 5, but I rate Kris the weakest.

2. Likeability – Looks, background & attitude.

• Danny Gokey has always got that smile on his face. His story of his late wife is sad. Always persists to his decisions of song choice despite the judges’ disapproval but still willing to learn.
• Adam Lambert is cool looking and has great dress sense. Rumours of him being gay might have swayed some votes. His attitude is great though. Very humble
• Matt looks good when he covers his forehead~ he has an ugly mole on his forehead and his hair is not appealing too. But he looks like Justin Timberlake apart from that. He has great dress sense like Adam and I love him behind the piano. His background is not very publicized like Danny and Adam, just as the other 2 contestants I’m mentioning below. His attitude is good too; always willing to listen to the judges and change.
• Allison is not very attractive. She does not dress well either. Her attitude is ok though but she always seem to crack unfunny jokes~
• Kris is well-liked mainly for his looks. He has a wife, so man-crazy fans might be turned off~ And he’s quite humble too. Not as confident as Danny or Adam.
  

3. Fans of Idols who got kicked out – Who will they support? Are they neutrals or will they support someone who is the good friend of their favourite, OR support who is the least fiercest rival of their favourite so that their idol would win

4. Town Size – That’s the size of your fanbase regardless of the above factors. Sure, there’ll be minority who look at the above factors but usually they would support their own species~ Imagine if it’s China VS Singapore. I think a China William Hung would win a Singapore David Cook~

OH MY GOSH!! Look at his face!! A kid having a kid!! Kids nowadays are so full of surprises~ And it says in the article that boys can impregnate a girl between 9-13 years old!! I am sensing it won’t be long before I hear a 9 year old father is out. At 9, I probably thought swallowing the opposite sex’s saliva caused pregnancy!! Much to the influence of Stephen Chow’s movie~ And this little boy doesn’t even know what “financial” means!! It means “DO NOT HAVE SEX AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE” you twit!!

Me, My Job and The White Tigress

I have pretty much settled down in my new job I found last September, thanks to the nice colleagues I have in and outside my department. When I was in NCC, I used to dread going to the Army. I was thinking “If NCC already so shitty liao, NS how??!! DIE LIAO LAH!!” But 2 years went quickly~ Then when I was working part time, I always had to countdown to the end of the semester break. Life seems so bleak if you are going to have a job for life. Imagine counting down~ “Ok….35 more years to retirement. WOOO!”

But one factor that wasn’t considered in both situations is friends. With friends, I think it makes the journey much much easier.

But hey! Life’s not going to be that nice to me~ There’s a white tigress I have to give my report to every month. And she never fails to make things difficult for me. It is like my supervisor described “鸡蛋里挑骨头”, picking bones from an egg~

Brooms and pails have been proved futile to kill the white tigress, evident by the attempt of the cleaner in Singapore Zoo. Suggestions, anyone??
